We've been passing on information lately about informal viewer polls taken by WMUR-TV, naming the top breakfast spots in the state and particularly, in the Lakes Region: best coffee, best pancakes, etc.
Some weeks ago, the folks at the station's New Hampshire Chronicle show took a more thoughtful look at where to get the best cupcakes in the state. They judged the best looking, best tasting, etc.
And in the end, they named the winner of the "Cupcake Crown" is Lakes Region Cupcakes of Tilton. This wonderful place, at 285 Main Street in Tilton's village (a few miles west of the outlets) is a rare treat for the Lakes Region: a terrific place serving a superior product handmade by good people at a reasonable price. And they're not shy about doing unusual things like serving parties, weddings, etc., and making up unusual items like Doritao cupcakes. Give them a call, 286-7776, or stop by a.s.a.p.

The New Hampshire Chronicle Cupcake Crown show will be rebroadcast Monday night. (BTW, the shop also won fist place for the best looking and best "signature" cupcakes.)
