The sky is rainy, dark as the 2012 summer season draws to a close… And the passing of some local eateries is mourned.
The Coe House in Center Harbor and the William Tell Inn in Alton have both disappeared.
For many years, the former was regular mentioned as the best restaurant in the Lakes Region. I have been to this restaurant a number of times in the past two years, and every time my overall experience improves.” reads a comment posted on Yelp.com several months ago. “This first time I came I was impressed mainly with the interior decor, but since then have been blown away by the food”
The latter  was  another gem, a distinctively unique place that created a faithful family of regulars. “I was surprised and disappointed to find the William Tell closed during a trip to the Lakes Region last weekend,” reads a comment on TripAdvisor.com. “Always a cozy little restaurant with a friendly staff.”
(Lavina’s Relaxed Dining has won some some online praise since it opened in the old Coe House space early this summer; the distinctive William Tell building is still empty.)

The Broken Yoke recently opened in Belmont, at the corner of Rte. 106 and 140, in a spot that has seen the comings and going of several other breakfast-oriented restaurants. But a neighbor says it's owned by the same folk who operate the Egg-Shell Restaurant in Loudon, which has been praised by "New Hampshiremagazine. So we're hopeful.

The breakfast news in Weirs Beach is a little cloudier.
Linda Jean’s Diner, the local landmark, has had a sign out front for weeks that reads, “Best Breakfast in Town.”
And underneath, “Experienced Breakfast Cook Wanted.”
We admire their optimism.

And across Weirs Boulevard, in a space that’s had several eateries in and out in recent years, is an advertisement announcing the opening of Bada Bing Pizzeria, and another one touting Rosie & Meghan’s breakfast “Coming Soon” to the same location.
Complications, since the signs have posted since early summer.
