Remember Bob & Judy Ulrich?
The Ashland couple is trying to raise $330,000 to save their 63-acre campground property and the log cabin home. Committed Christians who've spent most of their lives using their time - and the campgrounds surrounding their house - helping out the homeless and other needy people, the couple decided to trust that God was directing when Judy planned a fundraising bike trip to Maine.
We wrote about the Ulrichs in our August 18 post and, not long afterwards, the Laconia Daily Sun featured their story.
Today, Judy says her plans to bike from her home to Portland, Me., and back on August 31 and September 1 did not work out exactly as she'd hoped. The 61-year-old mother (who hadn't been on a bike in 12 years) fell ill, had trouble adjusting to her multiple-speed bike, was delayed when the bike chain fell off and faced other obstcles. She covered only 99 miles, ending up somewhat short of Portland - about halfway through her goal of 200 miles.
So, on Friday, September 28, and Saturday, September 29, Judy is heading out again to finish the "Faith Bike-A-Thon" she began last month.
(BTW, they also own a homemade bread baking business named Mountain View Manna; the fabulous products are available at fine food stores and restaurants around the Lakes Region.)
The Ulrichs say they need the money to pay off thier mortgage. (They current monthly payment is $2,500.) Right now they have $3,200 pledged to their fundrasing efforts.
But they're looking, hoping and (of course) praying.
A local real estate attorney may be able to help them hold off the planned bank auction scheduled for later this month.
And someone else may come up with an idea or two to help them - just as they did for the owners of Nh2o, the Alton spring water company we wrote about several months ago.
One things is for sure.
The Ulrichs are "keeping the faith."

You can find out more about the their plight at “S.O.S. Family in Need” on Facebook, YouTube, and Fundly.com. Or you can call them at (603) 968-7042, 996-1840 or 996-1936.
And their breads?.. The stuff of legends.
- When you eat the first bite of the asiago cheese or the cinnamon raisin, you won't stop until you’ve devoured more than half the loaf.
- And if you toast a slice of the maple walnut, and your windows are opened, your neighbors will come in begging you for a piece?
