According to Us Weekly, the talent show TV mogul is allegedly expecting a baby with friend and New York socialite Lauren Silverman.

Silverman is said to be a longtime friend of Cowell's, who is also close to her husband Andrew Silverman, Manhattan property mogul.

Speaking to the US magazine, a source said: "Lauren and Andrew have been unhappy in their marriage for some time, and their divorce has been in the works for a while... As their marriage deteriorated, she and Simon became close."

News of Cowell's impending arrival comes after the 53-year-old's outspoken views on parenthood in 2009, where he vehemently denied his intentions to start a family.

He said: "God, no. I couldn't have children. If I had them here drawing on the walls I'd go nuts... With kids, you've got a routine you can't escape from. You've got to be up at a certain time. Got to listen. When all you want to do is sit in a corner thinking."

However, since then, the X Factor star had seemed to have mellowed in his views and maybe even warmed to the idea of becoming a father. In an interview last year with AOL Music, Cowell hinted that he hadn't entirely ruled out the idea.

He said: "I do really, really like kids, because I can talk to them and listen to them. The problem has always been how much time you need to devote to bringing up kids. I've always dedicated all my life to work, and at 52, I've probably missed the opportunity."

A representative for Cowell has yet to comment on the news.

The songstress sued the British high street store for $5 million (£3.3 million) for using a photograph of her filming her video We Found Love, on their t-shirts. Rihanna said that the image was used without her consent and that due to the similarity of the picture to the one used on her album sleeve, fans may be confused into thinking that it was "genuine" endorsed merchandise with "an emotional connection to their heroine."

Topshop maintained that it was fully entitled to use the image because it bought the licence for the picture from the photographer who took it. The store's lawyers argued that the singer isn't legally able to make a monopoly on how her character is marketed.

The case judge, Mr Justice Birss, said that although the taking of the photograph had not breached Rihanna's privacy and there was "no such thing as a general right by a famous person to control the production of their image," in this particular instance the high street store was in the wrong.

"The mere sale by a trader of a t-shirt bearing an image of a famous person is not, without more, an act of passing off," he said. "However the sale of this image of this person on this garment by this shop in these circumstances is a different matter. I find that Topshop's sale of this Rihanna T-shirt without her approval was an act of passing off."

Topshop is yet to comment..
